Come visit! We’d love to meet you.

We are always proud to show new folks around our center! Our goal for each tour is to take the time to not only show you our center, but also to get to know your family.

We encourage you to take a tour of FELCDC before joining the waitlist (below), just to make sure we are a fit for your child and family. Please contact us to schedule a tour that best suits your schedule.

The waitlist for the younger classrooms is traditionally longer than the older classrooms, so we encourage you to place your child on the waitlist as early as possible.

“The teachers are incredible! Not only is the patience, love and nurturing evident in their daily activities, but they are responsible and notify the families of any classroom changes, sicknesses, weekly lesson plans, etc. I really feel like we are all family here and it is heartwarming to know my sweet girl is in such loving care. I cannot say enough wonderful things about FELCDC!”

“We have two children at FEL and we could not be happier. The director, Shannon, does a wonderful job of finding fantastic teachers, both the lead teachers and the afternoon assistants (who are often UT students). My kids both love going to school each day and adore the adults who care for them. They are also learning a ton — language and literacy, math, social skills. They are going to be well equipped for elementary school. But the kids don’t realize how much they’re learning — they think they’re just having fun.”

“My husband and I feel fortunate to have found First English for our toddler. During our tours of local daycares, we were afraid we would have to choose between the cold, unhappy corporate daycare or join a long waitlist on a fancy Montessori style school. Instead, we discovered the warm and relaxed environment of First English. It’s truly a hidden gem in Central Austin, with a staff that is deeply connected and attentive to their students.”

“Both our children have attended First English since they were 18 months old (they’re now 3.5y and 5y) and we couldn’t be happier. The staff provides a caring, safe, supportive and educational environment for the children, with a bonus of prioritizing social-emotional learning and Montessori-esque methods. Our kids have been excited to go to school every day (huge win) and I’m so grateful not to have to pack a breakfast, lunch or snack because it’s all offered by the school (and included in the tuition!). Highly recommend.”

“As a working mom, I’m so comforted with the idea of First English caring for and teaching my children! Our oldest attended FELCDC for 3 years and our youngest will be there for 4. Biggest selling points for us: amazing director & lead teachers, fun & energetic assistants, tree-covered playground with lots of toys, enrichment classes (soccer, tumbling, music), prepared meals & very centrally located! I love the sense of community from staff & families. Seeing how prepared my new kindergartner is for the step into ‘school’ is such a reward. Love, Love, Love it!”

“I cannot praise First English enough! Our experience has been amazing since we started our now four year old there over a year ago. The school is such a wonderful community and we love how all of the teachers and children seem to know each other. The director has a deep history with the school and does an amazing job. The teachers are so warm, caring, and involved with helping the children to learn and try new things. We love that the children stay together from year-to-year which really supports developing relationships. We feel so incredibly fortunate to have both of our children learning and thriving in such a great school.”

“There is no place like First English Lutheran Child Development Center. Our oldest son attended from 18 months until he started kindergarten. Seven years later when we were pregnant with his brother — we reached out to secure his spot. The experience has been just as magical the second time around. LaQuetha is an incredible director — and many staff members and teachers have been there since our oldest attended. The communication, pictures and daily updates for parents through the daycare app keep us informed, and I wish I was lucky enough to eat the daily meals and snacks prepared by Chef Jennifer. The school puts on special events for parents on campus during holidays, and really goes above and beyond to help the families connect. I hope all parents find a place as special as First English.”

— Erin C., parent

“This school is such a gem! Amazing staff, low turnover with employees and low student-teacher ratios. We love that snacks and lunch are provided. The classroom environment is geared toward Montessori style teaching and focuses on social-emotional learning. Communication with parents has been fantastic! We’re so glad to be a part of this community!”

“Where else can you find a full day preschool program in a homey, nurturing central Austin environment AND have all your meals taken care of by a fabulous on-site chef? Our twins have begun their 3rd year at First English and we couldn’t be happier. The staff is amazing and the school definitely benefits from the talent pool at nearby UT. They offer fun enrichment programs like tumbling, dance, soccer, and music. The vibe is definitely ‘Austin.’ The size of the school, around 60 kids total starting at 18 months, is just the right size to keep it interesting for the kids and yet still allow all the kids to all know each other. First English is definitely a close-knit, special community in Austin. We will always treasure it! ”

“I wish First English included more grades because I simply love this place! ”

— Jenni L., parent

“This is the best experience we’ve ever had with any childcare. Small classes, amazing teachers and staff. Their tuition includes a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. It's truly an amazing loving community and both our kids and us have gotten friends for life. Can’t recommend them enough, a true gem.”

— Maria M., parent

“The school community at FLCDC is absolutely amazing. We moved to Austin a year ago and this school has helped our kiddos (and us!) feel more connected in the city. The teachers and director are thoughtful and incredibly focused on social-emotional learning. The snacks and meals are healthy and our kiddos love them. I feel super lucky we found this place. Highly, highly recommend.”
